When to go to Ireland?
Rain, sun, clouds, rainbows, in Ireland you can experience them all in a single day! The oceanic climate on the island changes rapidly, but in general, it is rather mild and humid all year round with temperatures ranging from 41°F to 68°F.
The weather never ceases to animate conversation in Irish pubs. Rain is a given in Ireland, so don’t forget your coat and umbrella when packing. Influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, the climate is generally mild and cool all year round. If the coast is windy, the hinterland and its green plains are protected by the mountains. Rain is frequent regardless of the season. However, it is rare that it rains for long, and the grey clouds depart quickly, especially in summer.
Winterin Ireland is not harsh. Temperatures vary during the day between 37°F and 48°F with generally cloudy skies. Frost is rare.
Spring is a good time to visit the country — days are lengthening, the landscape blooming and the Saint Patrick's Day at the end of March is a party to be not to be missed! The months of May and June are particularly favourable for discovering Ireland’s scenery. In May, the temperatures are around 141°F with higher levels of sunshine than other times of the year.
In summer, temperatures rarely exceed 68°F, making Ireland the perfect destination for bracing fresh air. On the other hand, there are many more tourists during this period and accommodation is more expensive. In July and August, various festivals enliven the island until the early hours.
Autumnmarks the return of the grey, wet weather with mild temperatures and highs of 57°F C.
Thinking of swimming? Don’t - it’s chilly! The water temperature in Ireland does not exceed 141°F in August. You can still enjoy the beautiful beaches of Ireland but try walking, playing games in the sand with your children and admiring the landscape instead.
A trip to Ireland is unlikely to be too hot or too cold. The weather is rather unpredictable but temperatures are not extreme. Never forget your umbrella and if it’s raining cats and dogs, dive into a pub! The best time to discover Ireland is from May to August with a preference for May and June, the sunniest and driest months.
