When to go to Finland?
The winters are very harsh in Finland and can last up until the month of May. The ski pistes of Lapland receive a significant snow cover at this time of year. In the north of the country, the sun can sometimes be absent for a whole month, known as the ‘polar night’. Buried under a blanket of snow, nature returns starting in the month of April with the arrival of spring. This season, however, is very short, much like the beautiful summer days, which quickly vanish from the month of September onwards. In the summer season, the Finnish people are on holiday and take full advantage of the season. The days are almost never-ending – the sun shines at 11pm in Helsinki and in Lapland and two months can go by without it being night time.
